A Message from the Chairman / Mission / Brief History / The Executive

 

The Korea Foreign Company Association (FORCA) was established in 1977 under the aegis of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry to support and promote foreign trade and investment in Korea. FORCA has a special membership comprised of approximately 3,800 foreign-invested companies, a regular membership comprised of 500 buying offices of foreign corporations, and a Buying Office Business Club membership comprised of 120 Korean companies.

    Inaugural meeting held In-Mo Ahn inaugurated as 1st (and 2nd) chairman

    Authorized by the Ministry of Trade & Industry

    May 31st, 1978

    Registered as a legal entity

    Executive office established

    September 11th, 1978

    Notification No. 78-110 of the Ministry of Trade & Industry issued

    February 28th, 1979

    Held first regular general meeting

    November 1st, 1979

    Appointed as an organization for registration of B-class trade agencies

    February 26th, 1982

    Seung-Woo Lee inaugurated as 3rd (and 4th, 5th) chairman

    February 28th, 1989

    Kil-Ung Pak inaugurated as 6th chairman

    June,  1990

    Dispatched economic fact-finding team to USSR

    April 16th, 1992

    Hee-Chul Kang  inaugurated as 7th chairman

    November 30th,1993

    Won "Presidential Prize" (Group category) at the 30th Trade Day

    February 23rd, 1995

    Hee-Woon Chang (May Department Store Int'l Inc.) inaugurated  as 8th Chairman

    June 13th, 1997

    Name changed to Korea Foreign Company Association

    In-Hak Choi (Motorola Korea) inaugurated as 9th chairman

    Yong-Hwan Chung (Intel Korea Ltd.) inaugurated as 10th (and 11th) chairman
